The cannabis industry is maturing. New legalities mean more improvements for budding businesses — and with that comes an opportunity to build and strengthen credibility.

As the cannabis industry continues to grow and become more professional, so too do the opportunities. Working in the industry now offers legitimate, long-term career opportunities — and not to mention generous, steady salaries.

MG Magazine recently profiled the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Cannabis — here are a few that are raising the bar.

1. Baker Technologies
The Baker Technologies office sets a high standard: with lush greenery, comfy booths, and a vintage ski gondola repurposed as a decorative phone booth, it’s both functional and unique. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of meditation time, a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of paid time off, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s.

2. Canndescent
Employees who work for Canndescent have plenty of room for growth — nearly half of Canndescent employees receive at least one promotion in their first six months with the company. They also offer paid education opportunities and equity for every full-time employee.

3. Coda Signature
When a company can state that they have almost zero employee turnover, along with a waiting list of prospective future employees, it’s obvious that it’s a great place to work. In addition to these impressive stats, Coda Signature also places a priority on staying involved with the local community, and they offer equity to every employee.

4. MJ Freeway
The MJ Freeway core value statement inspires their enviable perks and benefits: “Be a part of the solution. Do what is right. Show others you care.” They give their employees the option of telecommuting, and they also offer 100 percent health coverage and unlimited PTO.

5. State Flower
State Flower is a standout company because of their comprehensive healthcare benefits. They offer medical, dental, and vision coverage, in addition to chiropractic care and acupuncture. A few of their convenient extra perks include healthy snacks and pre-tax commuter benefits.

6. Suma, Inc.
At Suma, Inc., cooperation and collaboration is recognized as the key to success. The company hosts quarterly peer-nominated awards, and they also host frequent employee appreciation events. They aim to foster a sense of camaraderie among employees.

The Green Cross works to provide more gainful employment opportunities in their community with a starting wage of $18 per hour. They also offer an array of great employee perks, from staff meals and product discounts to long-term disability and life insurance.
