WHAT WE NEED
 
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our growing team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end accounting including month end close, GL maintenance, analyzing costs, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have CPG experience, possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyze production costs, including build of materials (BOM), raw materials, inventory, labor, and overhead, to determine product costs and profitability.
  • Calculate and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Monitor and analyze variances between standard costs and actual costs, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management review.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, providing insights into cost drivers and financial performance.
  • Conduct periodic inventory reconciliations and ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and finance departments to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support to management as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting in CPG.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP Business I preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
